A Life Lived Freely, A Love Remembered Forever
On October 17, 2026, our beloved Yolanda Regina Ruth, affectionately known to family and friends as “Nookie,” departed this earthly life, leaving behind cherished memories, endless love, and a family who will forever carry her in their hearts.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Yolanda was truly one of a kind. She was funny, outspoken, free-spirited, and unapologetically herself. Her personality could never be duplicated, and her presence could never be forgotten. Whether she was making someone laugh, speaking exactly what was on her mind, or simply enjoying life’s little pleasures, Nookie always found a way to leave a lasting impression.
Yolanda found joy in the simple things life had to offer. She loved listening to music, dancing whenever the mood struck, enjoying a good meal, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. Those who knew Nookie knew how much she loved to eat, laugh, and enjoy herself. Her laughter, personality, and unforgettable spirit will remain treasured memories for everyone blessed to have known her.
Like many of us, Yolanda’s journey through life was not without its challenges. She experienced difficult seasons, but those moments never defined the entirety of who she was. Beyond every hardship was a woman with a story, a heart, a family, and a life worthy of love and remembrance. Her story reminds us that every life is precious, every person deserves compassion, and no one should ever be remembered solely for the battles they faced.
Yolanda leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her two sisters, Chevron Ruth and Cynthia Butler Smith, and her two brothers, Jerry Ruth and Kenny Ruth; twelve nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Although her departure has left an emptiness in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that the love we shared and the memories we created can never be taken away.
Nookie, your journey here on earth has come to an end, but your story will continue through every memory, every laugh, every family gathering, and every moment we wish you were here.
Your life was more than your struggles. Your story was more than your hardships. And your memory will always be greater than the circumstances of your passing.
A Final Reminder
“Let us remember to live for today, because tomorrow is never promised to us.”
May Yolanda’s life remind us to love a little harder, forgive a little quicker, laugh a little louder, and cherish the people we hold dear while we still have the chance.
Rest peacefully, Nookie. You were loved, you mattered, and you will never be forgotten. 🕊️
