Joy Martin Carey

Joy Martin Carey, 88, of Hapeville, died Sunday, May 31, 2020. Joy was the former Owner/Operator of the Beauty College of America, for 54 years, retiring when she was 84, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Hapeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Howard Carey, and a son, Thomas Dale Carey. Surviving are her children, John & Missy Carey, Wayne & Lisa Carey, Walter & Edith Carey, Deborah Allen, and Stephanie & Ben Moncrief; grandchildren, Nicole Allen, Robin Carey, Abbigael Carey, Blake Carey, Thomas Carey, and Travis Carey; 4 great grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty & Carl Swan; and a lifelong friend, Shirley Heard. A private cryptside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday,June 04 at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, with Rev. Marsha Feuser officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Joy's favorite charity; St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
