Charles Ralph Allen, Sr.

Charles Ralph Allen, Sr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Hurt Allen; a son and wife, Brian & Cindy Allen, McDonough; a sister, Lillian Allen, Tucker; and a brother, Fred Allen, Leesburg. He was predeceased by his son, Charles R. Allen, Jr., brothers, Raymond Allen and James Allen; and a sister, Pauline Allen Smith. He was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA and formerly of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, East Point, GA. An Eagle Scout, with a Silver Palm and an Explorer Advisor, he was a licensed pilot at age 18, and served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. A licensed electrical contractor, he was the former owner of Allen Electric Company. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1 in our chapel. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Crawford City Cemetery, Crawford, GA. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Friday for 1 hour prior to the service at Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home, Hapeville. 404-761-2171
